Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault (WCASA) Mission
The mission of the Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault is to create the social change necessary
to end sexual violence.
Conference Theme and Goals
The theme of this year’s conference is “Uniting Together to Create Change: Considerations of Identity in Shaping the Sexual Assault Movement”. This theme is intended to expand the conversation of identity (race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, class, age, ability, culture) to address the impact on underserved and underrepresented populations. Additionally, the experiences of privileged identities will be examined to help us see where we intersect so that we may come to better understand how oppression is a part of the pattern of violence in the culture at large (racism/sexism/homophobia, etc.). We also wish to highlight the importance of creating a caring and connected community in order to intervene in and prevent sexual violence.
The goal of our conference is to united agencies and individuals working to end sexual violence, provide educational opportunities to deepen our understanding of sexual violence, and facilitate social change.
